Marbles
I use a points system in my classes that allows for the students to compete against each other for a celebration at the end of the weeks. It really works. |

Your points system sounds interesting. I use some similar in my classroom. Each day my student earn "money" for their behavior. At the end of each month they must subtract $800.00 from their total earnings, this is what they owe me for rent, water, and power. They can purchase homework passes, extra credit, candy, or supplies with their extra money. It gives them an incentive to work towards and also teaches them real life skills. |

I like the motive for money, it is something I would consider using in my classroom. |

This is a great idea! It kind of gives them a sense of the real world. Hard work= compensation |

I have used Class DOJO in my class for points. Students can earn points for themselves, groups, or as a class. Each weeek students can use their points to purchase things from the class store. I also use the class points for and end of the quarter party. The class must get an agreed upon amount of points in order for us to have a party. Students will work for something if they have a goal in mind. |

That is a good idea. And putting up a visual for their progress towards the goal would too. |

That is a great idea. When I was in elementary school, we had the same type of reward system. Glad to know that this is working for you. |

That's great! I would use something like money or paper slips that they have to keep track of. It teaches them responsibility and how to work towards an end goal. |

It is great to find a system that works for your classroom. I would make sure to have clear and defined expectations for students so they feel that they are being treated fairly. Competition is good if done correctly and not confusing students. |

I really like the idea of using Marbles. I have seen this many time. I also like the idea of having prize balloons. The balloons are taped to the whiteboard, when the class has earned a reward the teacher pops the balloon. The reward can be something silly as they don't have to wear shoes for five minutes or they can ear a piece of candy. |

This is a great incentive and teaches friendly competition, especially if it helps the students stay on track and learn. |

Youre point system sounds like a great idea. We do something similar in my classroom where every time a student does something good they earn a dollar. And at the end of the week the students can turn that cash in and receive an award or a prize for their actions. |

I don't see anything wrong with this. It helps spark some competition and can help drive students to behave better. |

I personally like this point system because it allows the class to work together while working towards a common goal. It also motivates the students to work their best and most efficiently. |

I use this as well in my classroom and it works wonders. We are departmentalized so I have all of my classes competing against each other. |

That is cool that you have your other classes competing. Will you be having a celebration for the winning class? |
