I have overheard him tell them they need their butts worn out, they'll fail fifth grade, they are lazy, etc. His comments are very negative and inappropriate in my opinion.                 Submit a Possible Solution Please read response(s) below (if any) before posting your solution.                 Solution 1 Posted October 18, 2015 5:26 pm qyQaGy Reps: 78 If I had a report with this teacher I would say something to him without trying to sound accusing. If I did not have a relationship with this teacher I would perhaps mention it to my team leader, that teacher's team leader, or to administration. You are right to want to do something about it because those comments are damaging to children. If a teacher is making these comments they need to be reprimanded and it does not need to come from you- but from above. That teacher needs to understand how damaging these comments are and how much trouble they could get him in. Parents would be outraged if they knew that their son or daughter's teacher was telling them these things! I would also say you should keep documentation that you contacted the administration about this issue. Approaching this teacher in a positive way will be helpful so that he/she doesn't feel defensive. If that didn't work, I would bring it up with administration. It is your bosses job to have your back as well as protect the students physically and emotionally. Although it may not be your job to directly approach this teacher, it is your job to protect students both physically and emotionally. I'm also fairly certain it goes against the principles of teaching by putting down a child's willingness to learn. I recommend you bring this to the attention to an administrator so they can find a solution to this behavior. If you do not know the teacher that well, maybe find another teacher to speak with them. If that does not work go to someone superior or make a complaint.
