Purse on the floor
My CT Had her oversized purse open with two different bottles of prescription medicine visible to anyone who looked at the purse. She had it on the floor next to her where she was sitting next to all the kids on the rug. She then left the place she was sitting and went to the other side of the room. The purse was in arms reach o many students sitting on the floor right by it. I was worried but didn't say anything unless the students reached for it. |

You might one to talk with her privately and suggest she keep her purse in a cabinet. I've had many teachers keep their purses in cabinets or at least behind their desks; definitely away from students. Somewhere where she can easily access it but here students can't. She might not even realize it's so easily attainable for other students. |

I agree that a private talk would .be the best solution to this case. |

I like this solution. I'm sure being a teacher has her mind focused on other things, so she may not even realize it, but she would most likely agree with the suggestion. |

I agree, talking to the teacher is a good approach. Just informing them that this is not safe or acceptable is good. Hopefully they understand. |

I would just talk to her after class. She would be happy that you did. |

I completely agree that it would be helpful because she may not understand. |

I would definitely make a suggestion that she either leaves her purse in her car, or in a locked closet if that's an option. As a certified pharmacy technician, so many different medications can be harmful to children and its not safe for children to be able to easily access them. |

I would not talk to her in front of the students because that might upset her but I would definitely say something to her because that could be a health hazard for the students |

I agree. You should talk about that privately, because it can put a child's health at risk. |

This is definitely a hazard to students and an issue that should be addressed immediately. I doubt your CT even realized that this was an issue but if you kindly explain the problem to her and offer her someplace private to put her purse this issue could be immediately solved. |

I would talk to her privately and explain to her that it is important to make sure that students are not within arms reach because if any of the children ever grabbed them it could be an extremely bad situation. |

I would talk to her maybe after school hours and bring up your concerns and ask her where would be a better place for her purse. However you shouldn’t come off as rude but instead as worried and passionately. |

Politely approach them and explain the gravity of the situation, and a reminder of the audience that you all teach. If it continues to be an issue, politely notify them that it is not safe, and that you will be bringing it up higher for the children's safety, and that it is not an attack on them. |

There may not have been an issue at that exact moment on the rug but if you thought about it enough for it to worry you, it important to have a conversation. A private discussion about keeping personal items out of students' reach is important here. |

The purse is not your job to monitor, but the children's safety is. You were right in the way you handled this. |

She might not have realized what was going on so I would suggest talking to her after class and presenting some solutions to the problem. If she is receptive then that is great! But, if she does not want to take steps to ensure student safety then you probably need to bring that up with administration. |

Immediately inform the CT about the purse. Students should be able to visualize such as being able to see possible damaging information on a computer screen and need to store the CT purse in the correct place where students will not be able to access physical products, especially medications and other harmful products. |

I would recommend informing her to keep her personal belongings somewhere safe. Teachers who I have observed have always had me put my bag in the class closet or back of a counter where it is out of reach from children. Students, especially young ones can be very curious and it can be a risk having that out within reach of students. |

Next time that happens grab the purse and as you move it let the CT that you are replacing the purse. Later in the day you can bring it out and say :I move the table because I saw some prescription in the reach of any student. |
