Well use discretion when answering the question. If it's in the textbook then it's a suitable answer but if it's something inappropriate I'd recommend not answering it if the parent doesn't want the child knowing. |

This is the best response. As teachers we should respect what parents do and don't want their children to know before the parents can teach them. Answers from a textbook are fine since they're part of the curriculum, but anything outside of the text should be treated with caution. |

I would suggest approaching the situation in a professional way and only discuss what is mentioned in the textbook. |

If the student makes a poor decision because the health educator decided not to answer, then the health educator was not doing their job. If the question is just a general question, then the health educator should respect the parents' wishes. But if the student could be putting their health at risk as a result of not knowing the answer, then I think the health educator should answer. Student safety always comes first. |

I believe in the importance of respecting the parents decision and preface of what the child knows. If it is something that is concerning, you should consult the childs parent. |

It really depends if the parent fully submit to the school if they want their student to learn that information. To add, it depends on the state they are in and the district policies the teacher must abide by when approaching this situation. |
