How to get student's attention during a cooperative learning exercise
You can call out:
"1, 2, 3, Eyes on Me!"
Students repeat, "1, 2, eyes on you!"
If you are on the gathering area and listening to students' responses and need their attention, stand up and say "1, 2, 3, turn back to me." |

One thing that i have seen done in the classroom is saying the the students give me "5" and then holding up as many fingers as you want the students will put up the additional fingers to make "5". For example, if I say give me five and hold my pointer and middle finger (two fingers) the students will put up three fingers, the ring, pinky, and thumb. |

One that I have done in the rooms I have been in is start at a lower voice level and say if you can hear me clap once, if you can hear me clap twice, and keep going until all the students are quite and clapping with the group. |
