Parent Makes Suggestive Comments
During a parent teacher conference I had a parent of one my students make a rather suggestive comment towards me that made me uncomfortable. I felt that the comment was inappropriate and confided with a fellow teacher and simply brushed it off. Should I have confronted the parent or reported it to the administration?

If the comment made you uncomfortable, it might be best to discuss this with an administrator about the matter. It is always important to inform admin if something someone says or does makes you uncomfortable.

I agree! I think that things that makes us uncomfortable should not be brushed off, but rather be addressed.

I believe that since it was inappropriate and during a professional conference that it should be taken to an administrator. The fact that it made you uncomfortable is more than enough of a reason for it to be taken seriously.

When dealing with suggestive comments, it is best to alert the admin at the school. This way, if something happens in the future, it will already be on their radar. Also, someone from the administration may be able to sit in on the parent-teacher conference as a preventative measure and for your comfort.

I think reporting it to the administration wouldn't hurt. That way if something happens then at least you covered your bases.

If a parent had made you feel uncomfortable based off of a comment they decided to make, you should reach out and tell the administrator about it. You should ask to set up an appointment with the administrator and the parent and get it all sorted out.

If the comment made you uncomfortable I would talk to an administrator and continue further based upon what they said.
