Reward at Home and School? WOW!
If you have a child with a behavior problem, meet the parents. Let the parents know that you need them to assist with the student's behavior. Find out from the parent what awards they would be willing to give the student at home. You as the teacher can reward the student for any progress made in the classroom. It is good to start out with a "just because" reward. Then rewards can be given for progress in behavior. Let the student know up front about the rewards as well but do not let on as to what the reward will be. You as a teacher can give a reward as well. Moreover, the teacher can send an email, text, or note to the parent to let them know it is time for a reward. The parent can relieve the student from a chore for a day, a chore for a week, or add $1 to the student's allowance and/or piggy bank. |
