What is the reasoning behind the brown grass, cactus plants, and no trees.
The little boy describes his surroundings at his grandma's house. One thing he stated was "People had brown grass. It was all dried out. And they didn’t have trees. They had really big cactus plants." Why would their surrounding be different at his grandmas versus back home in Chicago?
