When answering this question you do not what to sound too cocky or full of yourself. It is important to be humble and explain how you acquired your strengths. I would respond to this question by saying that my greatest strength and is taking constructive criticism. Growing up as a dancer, I have gone to countless auditions in which I was told that I did not make the cut. It was always tough but by asking what i needed to improve on, I was able to grow as a dancer and start booking jobs. It is beneficial to take criticism to improve in areas of weakness. I will always welcome constructive criticism because I want to keep learning and growing.

Since there is a very fine line between sounding cocky and sounding confident, I would stay focused on teaching-related and professional strengths and avoid mentioning strengths about any personal in any way. I would mention things such as my communication skills, my ability to get students excited about learning, and finding new ways to teach topics that students traditionally find boring.

I would try to avoid saying generic things. However, I feel that my greatest strength is my ability to think outside of the box. I would provide examples of this to get the interviewers attention.

I would discuss anything that shows how much you focus on the needs of your students. Flexibility is a strong strength for teachers as well, and this would be a way you could discuss how you use data to drive your instruction. If you have one lesson planned for 2 days, and based off formative assessment it is clear students need 1 day of remediation, then you have to be flexible and change your plans.

I think it is ok to be honest but not to sound too overconfident. Explain why you think it is your strength without embellishing too much.

I would talk about my passion for helping others and wanting students to love coming to school. I would also talk about past experiences with teaching to show how I geniunally care for my students.

You want to have confidence but not sound like you're better than anyone else or bring other people down.
