What can you do when students are disruptive?
I know it can be hard to figure out ways to deal with students that are disruptive in the classroom but what would be the best way to go about something like that? |

The thing I have found most helpful is incentivizing good behavior. Using a program like ClassDojo helps students see their progress in getting points, and also gives parents an easy way to communicate with the teacher. |

Disruptive behavior can be eliminated by addressing expectations immediately and having consequences for inconsistencies. It is best to address the negative behaviors before they snowball into something bigger. |

I would use a lot of nonverbal cues and create unique hand signals that the students can come up with. That way, they can still have fun by having a say in how they can respond but it won't include shouting out. |

It depends on how they are being disruptive, if they are calling out and affecting other students' learning, then the teacher should make sure there are expectations in line to ensure the class understands how they should behave. If it is one or two students, then I would pull them aside, without making them embarrassed, and explain the expectations and how their behaviors are not okay and if it does not get better, then parents may have to be called. |

Creating a lottery system in the classroom can be very helpful. Rewarding good behavior and discouraging the bad. With the lottery, they can save up "money" to buy things like the extra time during recess (because who doesn't love that), treats and other fun supplies. This provides an incentive for good behavior rather than bad. |

I think that calling that student out directly would be effective. Not to be embarrass the student but to just highlight the behavior and that it will not be tolerated. |

It depends on how they are being disruptive but in general, it is important to reward good behavior and punish bad behavior while making it known which behaviors will be rewarded or punished. |

Finding the root of the behavior would be beneficial. Stopping the behavior can be best addressed when you find out what is causing the behavior! Then based on that you can create a plan of action to handle the behavior. |

The best way is once you have a solution, be consistent with it. No matter what you decide, consistency is needed for students. |
