Students Not Following Rules
Every year, teachers deal with students not following the classroom rules. There are many sources to this happening in the classroom. I know that sometimes the students result from what was going on in their homes after school. However, you could always talk to the parents about their behaviors as well. But there has to be other ways to get the students to follow directions. What would be some ways to help the students get back on track?

I am talking out of student perspective. I would start by first trying to observe what rules specifically the student is not following and what their reactions to them.
From there id try and sit down directly with the student. Teachers must remember that student are just inexperienced but never dumb. Talk with them calmly and patiently and try and talk things throw with them by asking them why they are not following rules and come to a compromise with them.

External factors are sometimes the reason student misbehaviors occur in schools. Some ways to help students get back on track are providing an incentive like verbal praise when the student is exhibiting a behavior that you would like to see more of. A teacher should provide the student with proximity until the misbehavior fades. It is important that a teacher does not take their focus off the rest of the class or the lesson they are teaching. A teacher should follow district rules and procedures for managing misbehavior effectively. Teachers can also set up a meeting with the student after class to discuss their progress and performance.

I think that the best solution here is getting the parents involved. That way they are getting some reinforcement at home.

I think I would take a look at the rules and see if there were any tweaks neccessary.

To encourage students to follow classroom rules, a combination of strategies can be effective. Establish clear and consistent expectations and involve students in the rule-setting process to increase their sense of ownership. Employ positive reinforcement to acknowledge and reward good behavior, incentivizing others to emulate. Building strong, trusting relationships with students is crucial, as it fosters a respectful and cooperative classroom environment. Ensure that lessons are engaging and interactive to keep students interested and involved, reducing the likelihood of disruptive behavior.
Additionally, teaching conflict resolution and problem-solving skills can help students manage disagreements constructively. Regularly assess and adapt your strategies, staying flexible and responsive to the needs of your students. This multifaceted approach can help create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and respectful behavior.

I think it depends on the severity of their violation. If they are chatting in class or not following classroom rules, I might address it by establishing classroom guidelines and expectations. If they haven't completed assignments or activities, I would understand the reasons for their incomplete work and communicate with them privately. For more serious issues, I might discuss them with their parents.
