Assessing class on content
How would you assess your class when you have ELL students? How do you make sure everyone gets the same opportunities for their tests? I wouldn't want the ELL students in my class to feel left out or confused with the terminology on tests. So, how do you effectively go about this?

I would suggest looking over WIDA and Colorin Colorado resources to guide your approach in addition to consulting your school's ESOL liaison to ensure that you are giving your ELL students an equitable chance to demonstrate their mastery of objectives. Depending on their proficiency level, assessments should be modified to meet their english language proficiency level. Doing this will ensure that all students are being assessed on the same learning goals, but are able to perform to their skill level, just like modifying assessments for students with 504s and IEPs.
