Case: Student can read but not comprehend
The teacher has a student who can read every word in the book. He also can comprehends some of the story but doesn't understand the deeper meaning behind the story. The teacher has tried to go page by page with the student but sometimes he still doesn't understand. The teacher believes the student may not understand some of the story because of experience and lack of vocabulary. Where should she start to problem solve to help the student?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Maybe asking the student to recall what the story was about and see if he can recall details such as items in the story.

Comments: This is in the right direction but more assessment opportunities need to take place in order to fully understand this students comprehension issue.

Comments: I think this a good strategy to incorporate, but if the student doesn't understand large portions of what the story is about, a recall will not help that, it will only demonstrate the lack of complete understanding to the teacher.

Comments: I don't think this is the right solution because the problem is that the student doesn't know what the story was about.
