  Case: Carpet Time
There are a few students in my class that are very disruptive while sitting on the rug for Calendar Time. I have tried letting these students bring a chair to the carpet, but it is not helpful. Any suggestions for how to make carpet time better?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would assign seats for carpet time. Every student will have their own special square or place on the carpet. I would separate students who tend to play and talk to each other and position other students in a way that they can remain focused.

Comments: I think that assigning names to the carpet is a great idea. It gives students their own space and can separate the students that like to talk or disrupt other students during circle time. Great idea!

Comments: I have seen this method used in a Kindergarten class and it seems to work well. Let them know when they are not where they are supposed to be and take points away after warning them once.

Comments: Assigning seats is a great idea to control interruptions and distractions. Assigned seats can also be changed occasionally to make the system more fair and exciting for students. Separating distracting students is also a good idea, as it will help students remain focused by taking away their main distractions.

Comments: This is a great solution. Behavior on the carpet should be the same as normal classroom behavior, so having assigned squares makes the students stay in order. Although the carpet is exciting, they still have rules when it comes to sit at it.
