Case: Kids forget putting names on assignments
How can I teach children to remember to put their identification (firstname and lastname) on their assignments before they turned them in?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Names on assingments is obviously crucial when grading and looking at the progress of students. To teach students to put their names on assignment you can make it interesting. For math assignments, they are to use red to write their name, science they use green, social studies uses blue, etc. This way they get in the habit of seeing a color name on their paper and this reminds them of the first thing they do is writing their name. If I as the teacher am to find a paper with no name I will post it on the board and the student to claim it will lose 2 points. This will not only reinforce them to write their names but also to know if they don't will lose points or may not recieve a grade at all. |

Comments: I think I would use a solution like this one. I like the idea of posting a no name paper on the board and a loss of minimal points. I had a fellow teacher that had this issue re-occurring in her 3rd grade class. She enforced a rule that before turning in the assignments, the students were to come to the basket by her desk and pick a highlighter and highlight their name on their paper. By doing this, they remembered to write their name so it could be highlighted. |
