Home | How It Works | Stats Login | Register         Case: Women's Accomplishments Lesson I am placed in a 3rd grade classroom for my field experience. My university supervisor wants my lessons to be culturally sensitive with special attention to gender issues. She especially asked that I plan and teach a lesson on women's accomplishments. I really don't know what to do. I am not very knowledgeable on this topic. She said I could use children's literature—picture or chapter books. Any help will be appreciated. What should I teach? Please suggest books and perhaps give me the links for the books. Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I think that focusing your attention on famous women throughout history is a great idea. There are a ton of notable women who have mad a huge impact on our lives. You could also include women who are responsible for many things in their lives as well. One thing you could do is complete an author study on women that they like to read from. One woman that came to mind was Barbara Parks who wrote the Junie B. Jones books. This is especially helpful if the books can be read by a third grader.
