He claims that a gang is bullying him, wants to discuss this with you and he can't tell at school or he'll be attacked. He has several bruises. What would be the right action(s)? Well in the Florida Code of Ethics it states under 3.a "Shall make reasonable effort to protect the student from conditions harmful to learning and/or to the student's mental and/or physical health and/or safety." This is a gang of children that are assaulting this student and you cannot get yourself directly involved in it. The best thing to do is to call the authorities because they will have a much better idea of what to do than you would. You need to do more than devise a simple plan, this could be a very dangerous reaction. This is not something to take lightly. This may be easy to do, but it is unfair when the student needs help and guidance from you. That should be left in the hands of local law enforcement, admin teams, and councilors - with your help, but not on your own. Local law enforcement should be the first step to the solution.
