Each time I teach the Science class, the students are a bit wild. What are some methods I can use to real them back to the task on hand without yelling to get their attention. The general education teacher, yells to get their attention, and I do not feel that as a useful strategy. Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) Identify the problem student(s). Bring them to the side and ask probing questions as to why they are being disruptive and explain to them how they are leading the other students to copy their actions. Let it be a friendly warning... They may not take you seriously and continue with the behavior until serious consequences are implemented.
