  Case: Always late
For the third time, a Jeremy arrives to your classroom late (he is in a wheelchair). Your syllabus specifies a reduction in points for repeated tardiness. You feel bad because you do not know if the reason he is late is because of the wheelchair and you don't want to discriminate him just because he is disabled. What should your course of action be?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would call his parents and just let them know he has been showing up late to class and ask if they know why.

Comments: Going directly to the parents is not the way to go. I feel speaking to the student first is most positive and helpful.

Comments: This will not solve the problem. He is late for a reason, find out the reason then proceed from there.

Comments: Calling the student's parents may solve the problem if he does not have a valid excuse for being late, but may offend the family if his tardies are a result of his disability
