  Case: The Swearer
J.M is a swearer. The student uses profanity continually. Uses it anyplace anytime and in the presence of anyone. The student swears intentionally, or may not even be aware that he/she is swearing. The student even declare that there is nothing wrong with swearing.
How do you deal with a student like J.M.?

Comments: Talking to the parents are good in one aspect but it doesnt mean the child will stop and you dont know if the child will be in any trouble at all when they get home

Comments: Hmm. I don't really think this will solve the problem entirely. Maybe his parents are where he learned the words. Maybe they don't care. Maybe they think it's funny. This student is probably swearing to be "cool" or "grown up" because he has nothing else that makes him feel that way.

Comments: It's a good idea to get the parents involved, although it is likely where they are hearing all the swearing!

Comments: I don't think this would be the best option because the reasoning for the swearing could come from the home environment, this may cause more harm than good.

Comments: This should not be the first step of action, but this could help. I'm just not sure it would work and may cause the child to dislike class even more.

Comments: Agree that contact with parents would be crucial at this stage before it becomes any more of a pattern/problem.
