Case: Co-worker trying to tell me how to do my job
This year I was selected as the grade-level chairperson for Kindergarten. Another Kindergarten teacher, new to Kindergarten this year, has been a grade-level chair in first grade. She is constantly behind me "reminding" me to do things and telling me how she used to do things in first grade. How do I tell her that I can handle my responsibilities without coming across as being rude?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
She probably thinks she's helping you. If this is something that is truly irritating you, be direct. Let her know that it makes you feel that she doesn't have confidence in you as the grade-level chairperson. She'll most likely apologize, and you won't have to deal with it anymore. However, there is always the chance it could start some unneeded drama! Good Luck!

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) No
The suggested solution is relevant to the case No
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement No
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No
The suggested solution is original No
Comments: In certain situations, it may be good to be direct with the person but when you have to work with them every day it may not be such a great idea. At my job now I was having a problem with one of my co-workers, she would always asked for my advice but never would take it once I gave it to her. I confronted her about it and it has been nothing but drama since then.

Comments: This solution would not be a route I would take in trying to solve this problem. I think that it might stir up some feelings with the individual, instead of addressing the problem in a positive way.

Comments: Although most people have rated this solution as not helpful, I am the kind of person that prefers a direct approach because sometimes if you are too careful and considerate, people might not catch on to what you are trying to say. There is a difference between being rude and being direct.

Comments: She probably is just trying to help. But being direct and telling her that it's a sign of her lack of confidence could close a door that you might want opened in the future. Instead of being so direct, I would thank her the next time she offers advice and tell her that if more advice is needed, it will be recruited.
