  Case: Motivation for ESOL Student
Miss Kay has a student who is classified as an EL and SPED. Shes pulls the student and works one-on-one with the student. Miss Kay and the student uses flashcards, games, computer programs, and worksheets. However, the student seems not to be motivated to complete the work. She is fluent in English, but struggles with reading and academic English. She just doesn't seem interested in the work. Any suggestions on how Miss Kay could increase the student's motivation?

Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would suggest finding out what activities she likes the most, and providing these as rewards for completing her school work. For example, if she likes computer games, letting her play on an educational computer game for 10 minutes after she finishes her reading assignments. Also letting her accumulate stickers or points to cash in for candy or extra credit after she finishes a certain amount of work. If you provide the student with something interesting to look forward to, she may be more motivated to complete her work.

Comments: I like your solution because it takes the fun games already being used and gears them more towards the child to peak interest.
