Case: Does my child have ADHD?
When a parent continually asks for the teacher's opinion on whether their child has ADHD or not, what is the appropriate response since we are not doctors? We can describe the behaviors we see in the classroom, but where do we draw the line?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Really, all you can say is what you are saying. We are definitely not doctors. Now, I know that sometimes it is very clear to us that a child probably has ADHD. However, we could never tell the parent that. You simply tell their symptoms and what you notice in the classroom. When they ask for advice all we can really tell them is to consult a doctor. |

Comments: Great post, however, we can say if it is clear to us that the child probably has ADHD. |

Comments: I don't think that this would help. I have noticed that parents don't like to hear that they suggest to see a doctor. |
