Case: Pushing an agenda
Carrie teaches at a very socially conservative public school in a small town. In order to advance in her town, things like church attendance and voting Republican seem to be taken in to unspoken account. Carrie has recently heard one of her fellow teachers telling students her personal story of salvation, telling students her personal beliefs on the immorality of homosexuality and playing Christian music during class. She also witnessed a teacher correcting to female students who were holding hands while walking down the hallway, telling them "You need to set a good example, so don't hold hands." Carrie feels that the teacher's behavior is incorrect, but fears that if she speaks up, she will not have her contract renewed. What should she do?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
If Carrie feels a teacher is acting unethically and is nervous to talk to administrators, she should contact the Georgia PSC. I'm sure they would keep her anonymous, but take action investigating the situation. |

Comments: I do not this is the best decision, I believe that there are other things that can be done first before heading to the PSC. |
