  Case: Disruptive Student
I have a student that is disruptive in all classes. He wants to gain his peers attention at all times, and he wants them to laugh. He randomly walks around the room, keeps talking, and making jokes. He has done it so much the students are starting to notice how annoying it is. What should I do about this student?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I do agree with the previous suggestion about first speaking to the student and communicating your expectations. The following system has worked really well with attention seeking disruptive students, especially those who want to be the class clown. I draw a personal behavior contract with them where they are allowed to host their own "Stand Up Comedy" session at the end of the class period for about 3-4 minutes. This system allows the student to gain their classmates' attention in a positive manner, with the teacher's permission. The entire class looks forward to the stand up comedy session.

Comments: This is a really creative and excellent way to solve this problem. If the student like this idea and goes along with it it will solve the behavior problems in the class. You could also add to it and say that if he doesn't disrupt class anymore then he will be allowed to do his show. If this doesn't work for classes everyday then you could have him maybe have a daily joke that would only take up one minute at the end of class then on Friday give him a longer amount of time to do a whole show. I really like this idea and I think it is a really positive way to solve the problem.

Comments: In this situation, I would use this solution. This solution requires students to make correct behavioral choices. The teacher sets guide lines and requires the students to adhere to them.

Comments: I believe that allowing the student to have their own "Stand Up Comedy" session is not feasible. This may cause other students to out so that he/she may have their own "Stand Up Comedy" session.

Comments: Giving one student time at the end of the day to do stand up comedy is disruptive, and not fair to the other students. If the rest of the class has to follow the rules, so should that student. The other students will only become resentful of this student. In my opinion, a student shouldn't have to gain their classmates' attention in any manner.
