  Case: Lexile Levels
A fifth grade teacher teaches a class of 25 students. The Lexile levels of these students vary greatly. There are several students with Lexile levels in the 200 and 300s, while some students have levels in the 800 and 900s. What can this teacher due to ensure that she is meeting the needs of all students and that all students are showing growth?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
The textbook response it level the text that students are reading. I would put those student on low reading level in groups and work with them until til I can assessment again to see growth. I would also use my high level readers to model for my low level students also.

Comments: Great idea. It would be helpful to meet with the lower Lexie students to help them by teaching them reading strategies and skills that can use to bring up their lexile scores.

Comments: Following a textbook response is great, but I don't think higher level students can model lower level students how you think they could. Maybe expanding on how that could work would be more useful.

Comments: If your students are low you don’t continue with low easy text. Bump up the rigor and instructionally challenge them and model with a harder text so they do grow as readers.

Comments: I also agree with you, these students would benefit from a low reading level group.
