  Case: redirection, redirection, redirection
Mrs. Smith has a student in her class who is consistently interrupting her during instruction. This student has been redirected several times for interrupting and not raising his hand. Being that this is not a "behavior" problem, the teacher continues to redirect. However, when does the teacher draw the line and assign a consequence? Mrs. Smith feels that the student should be accustomed to classroom procedures by this point in the school year and that failing to comply with the teacher's expectations should not be tolerated. What should Mrs. Smith do?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Let the student know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. He should know at this point how to act with respect. If he cannot, there should be consequences.

Comments: IF I was in this situation, i would not use this solution. The solution is dirrect and does not consider other underlining factors, such as impulsiveness.

Comments: I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. The scenario doesn't include the age of the student. We can't assume that the student is intentionally being disrespectful. It sounds more like an impulse control issue than a lack of respect, and telling a student that their uncontrollable behavior is not going to be tolerated and in fact, they will be punished for it... that doesn't sit well with me. Before any punishments are handed down, I would hope that the teacher would observe the student fully and consult with the parents and/or other teachers. I just hate to see good kids get punished for things beyond their control.

Comments: The scenario states that this is not a case of bad behavior. This is not helpful.
