Case: Pencils!
My students are constantly sharpening pencils in the classroom. I started them off the school year with individual pencils and bag, but this method doesn't seem to work. They get up during every block of the day. What do you suggest I do?

Maybe you could have a designated time to sharpen pencils? That way they could all do it at one time. Or give them a few points for coming to class with pencils already sharpened, so kind of make it homework. |

| Comments: Having a designated time for pencil sharpening is a good idea, but giving an incentive to those who already have it done may not be fair to the whole class because not everyone has access to extra supplies at home. |

| Comments: This is a good idea but what happens if there pencils are all dull or break in the middle of a class. Also not everyone has a pencil sharpener at home. It is a good idea though, but just needs a little bit more. |

| Comments: This solution could work but some students may not have the money to get proper materials for class and shouldn't be punished for that. It's a sad time but this is when you can support them with pencils but make sure they don't lose them. They should have mandatory pencil bags at schools that they can't take home... This approach may help them from losing their pencils. I do agree with the designated time for pencil sharpening, they should be able to sharpen their pencils before class... Having three pencils before class can reduce the constant pencil sharpening needs. |
