Case: ESOL in Science
What are your suggestions for helping ESOL students understand the content and vocabulary in science?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
In order to help my students understand vocabulary and content I use a lot of visual aids in class and on the tests. Students have the opportunity to draw pictures for their notes. They are also provided the Spanish version of the word but are also provided the English version and must use the English version. Assessments also contain pictures and are heavily differentiated. |

Comments: This is a great solution. Visual aids sound like the would be very helpful! I would use visual aids in my classroom as well. |

Comments: Good idea, but you want to make sure that the student can read the language they speak, sometimes we assume the children can read their native language but they have a hard time doing so. |

Comments: I love the thought of visual aids during the test and during class. I also believe giving the students the opportunity to draw pictures as notes can help them connect words with photos. |
