  Case: Paper
Many of my students do not bring paper to class with them each day. I have a container of extra paper that I provide if students run out and need extra. Lately, I have noticed that the same students are constantly getting paper out of the bin. I have refilled the bin many times this year. How do I get these students to bring in their own supplies so that I am not constantly providing them?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Each student should be allowed to go to the paper bin maybe 5 times a school year? Each time they go to the bin they get a tally mark next to their name. At the end of the school year if they have no tally marks they get 5 extra credit points, one tally mark then 4 extra points and so on. Remind kids at the end of the school year when they are on the border of getting the next letter grade that this could make a big difference.

Comments: In this situation, I would not use this solution. This solution seems to cumbersome and only supplies another idem a teacher must keep track of.

Comments: I think that this is a great idea to implement in the classroom. While it still allows students to take paper for class, it also helps discourage them from it at the same time because they have an incentive to stop; the possibility of extra credit.

Comments: I don't think this is a valid idea, a student should not be penalized and limited on having/not having paper.

Comments: I do not think this is a good solution at all. If a student's family has financial troubles, they may not be able to provide paper for their child. So limiting the amount of time that they can borrow paper during the year is not a fair deal. It's especially not fair to offer extra credit to children who bring their own paper in and do not borrow the paper provided by the teacher.
