I wouldn't want the others to hinder in activities and celebrations. Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) When teaching, teachers should differentiate between knowledge needed for historical/ cultural context and any celebratory activities. All students need informational content that might influence the context for reading or historical comprehension. However, this is different from celebrating holidays.
