Case: Seriously
I am a Lesbian and will soon be in the classroom teaching. What I find to be discouraging is that students will be able to tell I am lesbian by just my looks. I am worried that they will not respect my title and me as their instructor. How can I bridge the gap between them disrespecting me/ judging me and them respecting me regardless of how I look?

Hi!
Depending on what school grade you will be teaching that is how you should approach the students. I think that students would not judge you because of your preferences, I think they would be more worried about how much homework and classwork they will get. Like I said before, it will all depend on how you approach them on the first day. Good Luck! |

Comments: This may work for certain age groups, but not all. As we know, humans are naturally judgmental, and we will always judge books by their covers even though we know we shouldn't. Also, as someone who graduated high school less than 2 years ago, I can say from personal experience that over half of the students in a high school classroom are not worrying about homework and curriculum, and if they are, it is not on the top of their priorities list. |

Comments: I don't think this is a great way to approach her students. At any age, she should love and support her students just like they will to her. |

Comments: I do not think that approaching the students will be an effective solution. I think to earn respect another solution should be used. |
