He can't take the test within the time allotted, can't turn in assignments on time, or can't take notes, etc. He is requesting special consideration. Other students in the class overhear your conversation and start to whisper among themselves. What do you do as a teacher? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I would first contact the parents because if the child actually has a documented case of ADHD then they could get a 504 or IEP plan made for them. From there i would get the counsler in on the discussion so the plan can be made so that the student has the help they need such as extra time.As a person with ADHD i can tell you it is not something to be ashamed of. First I would wait and see if any issues arise regarding the talk the student had with you.
