  Case: Roaming
I have a small class and all students have an IEP. There is one student who will do the work if I sit with him. This is not always possible. He roams all around the classroom during instruction and student work time. He does not distract the other students, but I would like for him to stay seated during instruction time.
When I ask him to sit he ignores me. What are some ways to have him start sitting during instruction time?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
If the student is not causing a disruption to the other students, would it be possible to give him the opportunity to move around a little in the back of the room on long as he stays on task?

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) Yes
The suggested solution is relevant to the case Yes

The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue Yes

Comments: I think this is a good solution to the problem. As long as the students is not disrupting the lesson and stays focused, I think letting him quietly move around the classroom could help reduce the problem.

Comments: This solution could be a great resolution to the problem. if the child isn't bothering anyone or distracting them, then maybe this method could would. This would definitely be an experiment in my classroom.

Comments: While I do think that letting the student move around would be good, I think that it is important for him to understans that he needs to follow directions from the teacher.

Comments: This could be a good idea. Some students will benefit from being active, however it would be hard to keep them on task. It would take some panning.
