When trying to make the classroom a fun yet structured environment, what are some key rules to have in place for the students?

It is important to have clear and specific rules in the classroom and go over them with students on the very first day of school. The rules should be reviewed daily for at least the first week with reminders. When students are in line, remind them to walk in a straight line, keep hands and feet to self, be silent, and stay one behind the next. Students need to know the rules in order to know what to follow. Students also must understand the consequences when breaking a rule. Rules can be structured and still be fun by telling students what to do instead of what not to do. |
