Case: Cranky Teacher
During my last internship I classroom teacher never smiled, and acted as if she'd rather be somewhere else. Whenever a student would ask her a question, she'd huff and puff as if it was such a bother to answer a student.
I felt that going to the administration may not have been such a great thing to do. Any suggestions on how (or if) this could have been handled?

As an intern I totally understand being worried of not knowing where you stand and what you should and should not do in this situation. I personally would recommend speaking with administration without naming the teachers name. "I have been at your school for ___ (amount of time) and I have noticed a particular teacher who ____, I don't know what you would do with this type of information, but I felt the need to tell someone of authority." casual would be the best way to approach it since you do not know if the administration will find anything wrong with the news you are bringing them. |

| Comments: I think you are right that she needs to bring this to admin, but maybe she could also ask other teachers so see if they notice it too. Maybe she has something going on in her life. |

| Comments: I can see where this may be useful but without administration knowing who is causing the problem they may not investigate the situation vary much. They would be more likely to look into it if they knew who was causing such an issue and knew of specific instiances of this occurring. Also considering going to someone right when an instance occurs when possible. As often times administrators will respond more quickly in this case. As a student I was always told to come to someone right when the problem occurs if possible. |

| Comments: I feel like this is the most appropriate thing to do. Perhaps the teacher is unaware of how their attitude is being perceived, and just needs to be told. But that is the place of administration to do so. |

| Comments: I agree with your post wholeheartedly if in fact this was happening more than once or twice. While it may be uncomfortable to approach administration while we are still interns, not advising them of what is going on is condoning that type of behavior. Those students deserve better. |
