  Case: Out of Code
I have a female student who comes to class out of dress code. My school does not enforce the code. She is either wearing half shirts with spaghetti straps, or shorts with her rear showing. I have discussed with her that some other students look up to her and that she should show them proper attire for a young lady. This does not work at all. How do I help her change her ways?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Talking to her parents would be the first thing that I did. If it is starting to effect other students then it is needed to talk to the parents, and see if they can provide her clothes that are appropriate to school code.

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) Yes
The suggested solution is relevant to the case Yes
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement Yes
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No
The suggested solution is original Yes
Comments: The only problem with this strategy is that sometimes you will get parents who don't see her dressing as a problem. Because you don't want to be on the wrong foot with the parents, I would take it up with administration first and have them enforce it more, then if need be, get the parents in for a parent teacher meeting.

Comments: Most often, if the parents are allowing this to happen, it will not change and they will not respond in any way.

Comments: I think this a good solution. The student needs to be held accountable and the parents can help a lot if they are informed of the dress code issue.

Comments: I think this is a good solution for the problem, it will bring attention to the students dress code and give the parents an opportunity to address the situation. Maybe they are unaware of what she is wearing to school.

Comments: The reason why she could not be in dress code is because she doesn't have any other clothes to choose from, so asking the parents to provide clothes could be a financial struggle on the parents.
