This is not always possible. He roams all around the classroom during instruction and student work time. He does not distract the other students, but I would like for him to stay seated during instruction time. When I ask him to sit he ignores me. What are some ways to have him start sitting during instruction time? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I would call an IEP meeting and try to amend the IEP with new goals. So for this particular student set a goal of decreasing his roaming 70%, but more importantly speak to the parent and address the problem directly. If the student has something to occupy him or the ability to be rewarded maybe this will reduce the amount he roams.
