  Case: Siblings
I noticed that there were a pair of twins in the course. The twins would sometimes act out together and make fun of other students, I have reached out to the parents and they continue to bully other students. I have written them up numerously and it does no good, what else is there to do to keep the siblings out of trouble?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would have a teacher/ parent conference including the school counselor or caseworker to find out why twins are acting out and bullying other children. If necessary, I would also explain to the parents that the school has a "no bullying" policy which her twins may be separated in different areas of the school where they can't be together. Also they will suffer consequences such as detention, suspension or possible expulsion.

Comments: I would never threaten to separate the twins, they should be able to behave good even when they are together.

Comments: I think this is a great strategy to implement good behavior from students. It allows both the teacher and parents to find out the source of the problem instead of trying to stop the behavior itself.

Comments: It may produce defensiveness from the parents or children if talk of suspension/expulsion is brought up so early in the punitive process.

Comments: I would not do this. By threatening to separate the twins at the conference could cause the parents to become defensive and the remainder of the meeting would not be effective.

Comments: I think this solution is best because it gets parents involved face-to-face with the twins and teacher to talk about their actions, why they are bullying, and what can happen if they do not change their behavior.

Comments: A parent teacher conference with the school counselor to address the behavioral issues of the students will be helpful. Reminding the students and their family of the strict no-bullying policy will also reinforce the severity of their actions and the increasingly severe consequences that may follow if changes are not made.
