  Case: hungry
A boy in my class during my ESOL practicum cries every day around the same time that he is so hungry. What should I do?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Perhaps you could email his family and see if you can figure out why he is hungry. Also you could keep small snacks in your classroom to give to your student.

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) No
The suggested solution is relevant to the case No
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement No
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No
The suggested solution is original No
Comments: As an intern in the ESOL practicum I do not think it is appropriate to e-mail the parents directly. Maybe discussing the issue with the teacher and then trying to keep some snacks in the classroom for him and see if that helps. I would also have the teacher talk to the parents about the issue and see why he may be hungry more often than usual.

Comments: Email is not effective for ESOL parents because of the language barrier, and parents may take offense to this kind of question.

Comments: As an intern it is not appropriate to email the parents instead talk with the teacher away from the students like before or after class to figure out how to best help the student with the problem.

Comments: I do not feel that emailing the family is a good idea for this situation. The child may get into trouble for saying something or the family may be embarrassed. I would have guidance handle some of the situation and see what can be done.
