  Case: Which parent wins?
I have a student who's parents fight over who gets to pick up the child. The child never knows who to go with because they make him feel bad. Who do I let the child go with? And how can I make this stop?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
You can talk to both the parents and the student and set days for the parents to pick up the student. Let the parents know that their fighting is affecting the student. You can also have one drop off and one picks up and then they would flip-flop the following day. If this doesn't help the situation, than you can sit down with the student and set out which days he would go with which parent, so the student wouldn't feel bad about having to choose each day.

Comments: Presenting different solutions are a great way to start a meaningful conversation with the students. At the end, we won't have control of who the student goes with, but helping with the sorting process would be the best way to help.

Comments: Having the child pick which parent they prefer to go with would be less than useful as they both already have made the student feel bad. Instead talk with the administrators for a plan of action for the parents to follow through.

Comments: I think this is a good solution in some ways. It is smart to set up a set calendar or plan so the parents can share days. Remind the parents this solution is FOR the child's emotional and mental wellbeing
