People can and probably will talk, so having an administrator near while speaking to the boy can help ease that unnecessary suspicion. Although you make think it is that simple, it may not be in the long run so it is best to cover all bases from the beginning. Even if he needs attention this is not the way for the student to obtain it. Unfortunately this situation could snowball and the teacher could face repercussions from this. And given the situation, I would not speak to the situation one on one. First and foremost, the child should be informed that this behavior is not okay and can be very serious. I would let the administration know immediately as well.
