  Case: Cell Phones
I am an intern in a high school EBD classroom. The students have great difficulty putting their cell phones away, and often ignore me the asked or take it right back out. We are not supposed to confiscate the phones. What should I do to get them to put their phones away?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
You should give the students several warnings before actually taking action. Make them believe that you are being serious about the consequence you will give them if they do not put it away. If they keep doing it, notify the administrators and let them know about the situation.

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) No
The suggested solution is relevant to the case No
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement No
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No

Comments: The best way to make them know you are serious about the consequences is to start enforcing them or else they'll keep taking advantage of you. Make an example out of someone and it'll probably stop or at least decrease.

Comments: I don't feel that giving the students multiple warnings show them you are serious about the rules you are trying to implement.

Comments: I do not agree with the several warnings. I feel like the teacher will not establish expectations quickly enough and the kids will know they can get away with anything, defiantly a slippery slope.

Comments: We cannot 'make students believe' we are serious about consequences. They need to know we are serious! Find an alternative solution to confiscating it and then implement it immediately.

Comments: I think once you give 3-4 warning that its too much for high school students. One warning and then an action. Warning for the whole class and then afterwards single consequences.
