Case: No Group
I have a student in my classroom that cannot work with anyone. No matter what group or pair she is in, she is not focused, talks too much, doesn't get anything done, and brings her group down with her. I have tried many types of groups and different pairs. What should I do?

Group work is incredibly important for students as it helps them to develop socially and cognitively. However, like you said, some students just can't do it. I would be sure to assign specific parts of group work to each student in each group. For example, have one student be the leader, the recorder, the reporter, and the designer. Each of these students has a vital role in the group and can each be graded individually and as a whole group. |

| Comments: I like this solution because it allows the students to be able to work together and each student can complete their own part. I also think that grading each student for completing the part of the activity that they were responsible for is a great thing to do that way the whole group does not get a bad grade because of one student. |
