Case: Substitute Teaching
How do you get the students to respect you as a sub, when you only see them one day?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Have your own classroom management policy for substitution and if you feel you need to, teach it every new class your in. Go over the expectations, the rules, and the lessons. Most times students don't respect subs because they don't expect to have to do any work. Involve education and a lesson and don't let their expectations of work in the classroom and homework drop off just because the teacher is absent. |

Comments: I would caution against implementing your own classroom management policy because it may differ from the classroom teacher's. Some students act out against change in a situation like this. |

Comments: Students will already have classroom management policy that they have been following with their actual teacher so I disagree with going in with your own. |

Comments: Going over your own classroom management policy takes a lot of time and could possibly contradict what the teacher you're subbing for usually wants. This could create problems as students become confused and I would rather avoid that. |

Comments: While I do agree that it is very important to have a classroom management plan in place, it would be asking a lot for a sub to have one as well. It would take time and might even be exhausting for the sub to have to repeat themselves so often. |

Comments: I think it is best for the teacher's classroom management policy to be maintained by substitutes. |
