Case: Innapropriate conversations
I am currently interning in an elementary school and during a specials break I overheard two kindergarten teachers talking about inappropriate things. there were no students around to overhear the conversation but I did and was offended. What is the appropriate course of action?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would approach the teachers and explain that their conversation is inappropriate and offensive. If you hear it again, then you should go to administration and explain to them what you heard. Whether students are around or not, a school is not the place for inappropriate conversation. |

Comments: If no students are present, then a certain amount of leeway should be afforded to teachers "venting." Without specific knowledge of the supposed offensive comments, I would not feel comfortable seeing an administrator or taking any action whatsoever. Whether or not it's what some person may find offensive (for instance, is it a political conversation, simple use of cursing, whatnot) may be a matter of personal taste. |

Comments: I would not approach the teachers because you are an intern and because it may escalate into a situation that is also inappropriate. |

Comments: This may cause the teachers to not feel comfortable around you and cause them to talk bad when you're not around. |
