Case: Cursing
In my high school internship, I encountered many students cursing while inside of the classroom. Sometimes, even the teachers would curse. I do not believe that there is a classroom rule about this issue, and the teachers do not seem to correct students when they speak inappropriately. How should I address their language?

I know it is hard as an intern, but let them know it it not acceptable when they do that. If it continues to be an issue with the teacher as well, I would talk to your supervisor and see what advice they can give. I know they do not want us to be uncomfortable in our internships. |

| Comments: As an intern i feel like you do not have the authority to make changes in someone else's classroom. High schooler's are almost adults and they want to be treated as one. making a huge deal out of a couple curse words in my opinion is a waste of time. if every other word was a curse word then i would say to suggest saying something to the teacher. |

| Comments: I do not agree with this one. As an intern, the teacher is still in charge of the classroom. If it makes you uncomfortable, then maybe talk to the teacher. But it seems as if they don't care, and it's not your classroom so there isn't much you can do about it. |

| Comments: I feel that if a teacher decides to curse they will not change. I work in a high school and teachers curse, and they make it clear to me that that is how they teach and everyone needs to deal with it. This solution may cause animosity in the classroom. I do feel that cursing should not be in the classroom period. |
