Case: Really, you did that?
I was doing internship in an ESE class and saw a teacher smack a new student on the hand.
I was shocked and pretended not to see it, because the other teacher saw it and did not acknowledge it.
The teacher who hit the child then later on took the child to the bathroom and closed the door behind them..
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
In some counties the teachers are allowed to hit a child, I personally do not agree with this kind of punishment. |

Comments: This solution does not address the situation at all. Documentation needs to occur, the teacher needs to be reported to administration, and the child must likely will need to see a counselor.
Just because some forms of punishment are okay in other countries/cultures, does not mean it is okay to implement them in public schools in the US. Teachers need to follow the ethical guidelines/rules that are in place. |
