Comments: I would not do this. There is more to the students respecting a sub than just being straight forward.

Comments: May want to provide more clarification. Being straight forward with them could be anything from "I'm going to sit here while you guys do your thing" to "I expect you to do your work in complete silence." Being clear is a good thing, but its the substance that counts.

Comments: Not the best idea. You need to try to show that you are in charge and that there are still expectations from you as the instructor.
