Case: The parents want you to put a stop toa misbehavior
A parent calls to complain about the behavior of one of the third-grade students in your class. The student writes on the back of the other children's T-shirts, wipes paint from a brush onto their jeans, and pushes, kicks, and tries to trip them as they walk past him in class and on the playground. The parents want you to put a stop to this kind of behavior in your classroom and on the playground. What are your thoughts about what you might do in this particular situation?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would send the parent complaints to the principal or behavior management team at the school. If a parent is calling to complain, and the behaviors that are being complained about are as extreme as described (pushing, kicking, tripping), a referral has already been filed. More than likely, the teacher is having a problem with the student as well. By pushing the complaints to the principal, on top of the complaints the teacher is already saying, the principal will make an effort to change the classroom setting of the student. |

Comments: I agree. If the parent is noticing the issue regarding bullying and calling, it should be brought up to administration in case the situation escalates further. |

Comments: I think this could be handled in class before sending it straight to administration. |

Comments: I think coupled with a talk to the class about bullying this is a great solution. Going to the top with such a serious issue is important because it will not be overlooked. |

Comments: I feel like this solution has merit, but needs to encompass more involvement on the bullying child's parents. |

Comments: I would not do this if I were in this situation. I think it would be inappropriate to put this solely on the principal. |

Comments: I agree that getting administration involved would help the teacher solve the problems. |
